Who is Rosa Gallica?
No, Rosa Gallica is not a lady…
Rosa Gallica is the Latin name of the Rose of Provins. This is also the name of our rental company for furnished tourist apartments. Rosa Gallica (or Rose de Provins) is the oldest known rose in France. She would have been brought back from the Holy Land on the return of the Crusades by Thibault de Champagne.
In 2003, we founded the Clos de la Rose, a guest house in Ile de France, not far from Provins. Our small family business took the name of Rosa Gallica, a nod to the rose of Provins and the large garden with more than a hundred roses that we had created there. We are enthusiasts who have evolved in the world of tourism throughout our career, serving nearby destinations such as Scotland or more distant such as Seychelles.

La Vancelle in Alsace is a paradise for hikers, forest and nature lovers
La Vancelle is an exceptional site for those who wish to combine a holiday of rest, nature and relaxation with the discovery of the riches of the Alsatian heritage: culture, history, wine and gastronomy.
Get out of the house and choose the hiking trail you want to go on! It’s as simple as that. The mountains and forests await you in every season, with discoveries always renewed. Here the altitudes are gentle and everyone will be able to choose a degree of effort that suits them, from the simple walk to the long hike through the mountain range. And even to let yourself go idle in the garden in front of the beautiful panorama drawn by the mountains and the famous castle of Haut Koenigsbourg, a cup of tea at your fingertips…
La Vancelle is a small Alsatian middle mountain village nestled on the southern side of an arc-shaped massif that culminates at some 855 metres. Only a wise eye can guess it from the valley. Hidden in a setting of magnificent forests, it is a haven of peace and nature. And yet, our village is easy to access and ideally located, far from the crowd but only a few minutes from the wine route, wine villages and major tourist attractions such as the Eagle Fly, the Monkey Mountain and the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg.
The name of the House of 4 Travellers is a nod to those who made its history.
The house was built in 1930 by the forest ranger of the large state forest of La Vancelle who wanted to make it the home of a well-deserved retirement. He is our first traveller. All his life, he had travelled the paths and paths of the mountain and forest. A journey not far away but permanent, deep and attentive, listening to nature, man and wild animals. It is in his memory that we retained the name of Hiker for one of the apartments in the house, with a decoration that evokes a mountain house.
At the time of the construction of the house, our second traveller was in Africa, Kenya. He spent many years there before acquiring the house in the early 1960s. He was passionate about images and photography.
The third traveller is in fact a couple of travellers: that is to say we, the current owners. We have travelled a lot all over the world because we have worked for airlines for a long time… From now on, this house is also our main residence. We are happy to share it with you.
The fourth traveller is… you!. You who have chosen to spend a few days of pleasant relaxation in our house, discovering the mountain and forest, the vineyard and the Alsace wine route as well as the picturesque villages of Alsace. We hope that your stay in the Maison des 4 Travellers will be one of the highlights of your trip to Alsace.
La Napoule
Welcome on the French Riviera
La Napoule benefits from a privileged site at the southwest end of the Bay of Cannes that geographers also call the Gulf of La Napoule.
The site is sheltered from the prevailing winds by the Esterel Mountains. In this part of the bay, the sea is almost always calm and offers safe anchorage for boats as well as easy access to the hinterland. This is why since the Middle Ages, lords, pirates and other kingdoms have fought tirelessly for control of the La Napoule site. The eventful history of the Château de La Napoule is here to testify to it!
This exceptional strategic location has now become an asset for the quality and pleasure of your stay and holidays: sunny and well-carmed site of the Mistral but with immediate access to the superb Esterel massif; many beaches and sheltered coves; calm sea for a safe swim and pleasant boat trips. In La Napoule, there are few days when sea rolls and packages break out on the beach.
Icing on the cake: in La Napoule, you are only 7 kilometres from Cannes (TGV) and 35 kilometres from Nice Côte d’Azur airport.
Beaches, the sea, cruises
Mandelieu la Napoule, a resort on the Mediterranean coast, brings together all the assets of a leading seaside destination.
With its 3 km of coastline, the resort offers its visitors seven beaches, sandy beaches or red rock coves characteristic of the Esterel massif.
Benefitting from the Nautical Station label, Mandelieu La Napoule invites you to the pleasures of water sports in all their forms: boat, scuba diving, windsurfing, etc. Numerous and diversified all these activities are accessible over a long period of the year thanks to the particularly favourable climate and the exceptional body of water of the Gulf of La Napole.
You just have to get out of the apartment, cross the boulevard and you are at the main marina. From there also leave the boats of the Compagnie Maritime Napouloise. These are wonderful cruises and excursions in perspective to Sainte-Marguerite Island that can be seen in the distance, the Corniche d’Or that will allow you to discover the Esterel massif from the sea, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and even Monaco!
